There are many coloured granites but only a select few are used for memorials.

Material quality and colour consistency are important and some coloured granites are prone to flaws and variation of colour which deems them unsuitable. Coloured granites are unsuitable for hand etched photographs and some intricate designs.

Incised and gilded letters are recommended on these materials.
